Green Hydrogen Technology, Design and Analysis
Course delivery occurs outside of a physical classroom, and generally takes place online.
Microcreds overview
This module will start with an introduction to the potential roles green hydrogen can play in decarbonisation in the electricity, transportation and industrial sectors. Key national and EU policies and regulations relating to green hydrogen deployment will be described. The course will then review state-of-the-art hydrogen production, storage, transport and end-use technologies. Systematic design methods for green hydrogen systems, encompassing all elements of the value chain and how production interacts with renewable electricity production, will be covered.
What you'll learn
Students will learn how to conduct comprehensive techno economic analysis of green hydrogen systems. They will benchmark different system configurations on cost and environmental bases. Assessment will be through an individual mini-project on green hydrogen system design and techno economic analysis using a novel Excel-based tool developed at the University of Galway.
Requirements
Applicants must be over 21 years of age. This course is designed for graduates of Level 8 engineering programmes, who are employed or seeking employment in the energy sector. Applications can be considered using Recognition of Prior Learning.
