This micro-credential will be relevant to all intellectual disability service providers and professionals who wish to develop competency and knowledge in respect of the enactment of human rights in the day-to-day lives of people with intellectual disabilities. It will equip learners with the necessary knowledge, skills, attitudes, and competencies to enact rights-oriented service and person-centred support to people with intellectual disabilities in line with the United Nations Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Learners will engage in online directed and self-directed learning activities, take part in discussions on key issues and apply their learning over the eightweeks in the development of a case study related to understanding and enacting human rights in the life of a person who the student supports.How will this Micro-credential be delivered? Enacting Human Rights in the Lives of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

This micro-credential is aimed at practitioners who are working in contexts where trauma is impacting on the individuals and communities they serve. The course explores the nature, prevalence and impact of trauma, drawing on the latest theory and research in the field. Content includes, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), attachment disruption, community adversity, intergenerational trauma, and the conditions necessary for healing and resilience. Disability, Mental Health and Child Protection: Towards a New Understanding

This micro-credential facilitates participants develop the knowledge and skills that underpin the mediation of conflicts and disputes. In addition to understanding current concepts, policy and good practice relating to mediation, participants will develop the critical skills required to be an effective mediator. Mediation skills are a desirable skill in a range of professions and industries, including for those working in human resources, trade unions and in any role where conflict may need to be resolved. Successful completion of the course will provide participants with the opportunity to take a separate professional assessment of their skills.
